    The Beyond Organic show is a one-hour weekly radio program that features everything you always wanted to know about buying, growing, eating, and cooking healthy food. Interviews with leading chefs, authors, and environmental experts give listeners the tools to live healthier and happier lives. Beyond Organic is a coproduction of Straus Communications,, and Icicle Networks, broadcasting on satellite and regional radio stations.

    Special Events
    The consumer-focused annual “Taste of the Greenbelt” event, showcasing organic food, regional wineries, and family farms, is sponsored by the Bay Area’s Greenbelt Alliance. The event drew record numbers of attendees in 2001, increasing 30 percent from the previous year, and received extensive regional print and broadcast media coverage, including the San Francisco Chronicle, KGO-TV, and KCBS radio. Relationships formed with journalists at this event have led to expanded, ongoing coverage about organic food and related issues.

    Crisis Communications
    As codirector of Hill & Knowlton's crisis communications workshops in the mid-70s, Straus team member Arthur Young trained executives (board chairmen, presidents, and treasurers) to face the cameras and respond concisely to media and Congressional inquiries for the insurance, oil, and gas industries. Separately, Arthur prepared executives from Citicorp Bank, AT&T;, several of the Baby Bells, and a renowned retailer of high-end women's clothing.

    Media / Print
    With its emphasis on seasonality, sustainability, and local producers, the Farm Fresh syndicated food column reaches more than 700,000 Oakland Tribune / Bay Area readers.
