harvest & rowe Hires Straus Communications

SAN FRANCISCO - Downtown breakfast and lunch eatery harvest & rowe ( has named San Francisco-based Straus Communications ( as PR agency of record. Founded in 1999, Straus specializes in public relations and marketing services for organic and natural foods, agriculture and environmental issues. Clients include Thanksgiving Coffee Company, nSpired™ Natural Foods, Niman Ranch, and The Rodale Institute®.

Owner Alison Rowe opened the doors to harvest & rowe in September 2003, which is conveniently located at 55 Second St., between Market and Mission streets. Known as the “farm fresh café,” the lunch spot’s menu features ingredients from some of the finest Northern California food companies including Niman Ranch, Thanksgiving Coffee Company and Straus Family Creamery.

The café serves artisan salads, soups, sandwiches and sweets as well as healthy breakfast fare and organic fair trade espresso from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Office delivery is available and outdoor seating is in the works.

Prior to starting Straus Communications, company president Michael Straus served as marketing director for Straus Family Creamery, the first organic dairy west of the Mississippi. His family pioneered efforts to preserve agricultural land, and developed new market opportunities for organic and regional specialty foods.
