Los Angeles — Corigins is the U.S.-based unit of ED&F Man established to supply traceable ingredients to organic and natural foods manufacturers. Drawing on ED&F’s global resources, the wholly owned subsidiary will provide such ingredients as certified organic sugar from Costa Rica, U.S.-grown natural sugar and Fair Trade cocoa from the Dominican Republic.

The company will also provide custom blending and formulation services to natural foods producers, and is introducing an online tracking system said to allow food companies to comply with the audit requirements included in the Bioterrorism Act.

Bruce Kirk, president of the new operation, says: “Our goal is to expand the organic and natural markets and build long-term relationships with family farmers around the globe. By automating a paper trail including multiple certificates, lot codes and inspector reports we’ll make it possible to trace a product all the way from the farm to the table and back again. No other company offers this critical service.”
